Here’s My Honest Review on A&W’s Beyond Meat Burger

It might have taken me some time to discover a good plant-based burger, but I think I’ve finally found one that delights my tastebuds. A&W’s Beyond Burger is everything I have been looking for in a plant-based burger. The renowned chain has made Canadian history by being the first ever fast-food restaurant to launch a Beyond Burger in the country. And, this is a huge fast-food company offering not one, but two plant-based burger patties.

Earlier this year, A&W partnered up with Beyond Meat, a hugely successful company that makes vegan meats, and launched the plant-based burger. The Beyond Meat burger patty is made with 100% plant-based ingredients, including peas, rice, mung beans, coconut oil, pomegranates, potatoes, apples, and beets. The result is an absolutely satisfying burger experience.

The Burger starts with Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger patty and is topped with all the classics–lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. It’s served on a sesame seed bun.

Since the start of the campaign, the burger has been advertised as a delicious plant-based protein. So, what is that? Well, it is exactly what it sounds like–a protein derived solely from plants. The patty contains 20g of plant protein, 25% of your daily iron intake, 5g of saturated fat, 0mg of cholesterol, and 22g of total fat.

Now, let’s talk about its taste! This patty is nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. It doesn’t taste like a vegetable patty, instead, it tastes meaty. Its texture is a little different than a beef patty, but the taste is almost the same. It is seasoned with A&W’s signature seasoning, which gives it a distinct flavour. The burger is also very convenient(availability-wise) to purchase when in a hurry, as you can find it at any A&W franchise.

Although the burger is plant-based, it’s not vegan as the burger contains “Uncle sauce” or mayonnaise. However, it is easy to customize the burger vegan by just asking to get rid of the mayonnaise.

Moving on, the burger markets at $6.99 on its own or $10.98 for a combo. Considering, the burger alone isn’t as fulfilling as when ordered with a side and a drink, you’ll most definitely have to buy a combo. Therefore, this burger is quite expensive.

Useful tip:

For the best experience, when ordering a combo, replace the fries with onion rings. Trust me, it enhances the taste of the burger.

I’m so delighted that A&W decided to add this burger to their menu. This burger is delicious and very unique. If you are someone who is contemplating changing diets but are afraid of not having enough options available, this is just what you need. Moreover, the chain has set a great example for other fast-food restaurants, such as Tim Hortons, who recently collaborated with Beyond Meat and came up with three different plant-based options. It might be costly, but I still highly recommend it for you to try.
