Is Lululemon’s Reversible Mat Worth Your Money?

When considering which yoga mat to buy, the obvious choice is Lululemon’s Reversible Mat. Even though I started practicing yoga years ago, I got into hot yoga over the last summer. During class, the studio room gets extremely hot, resulting in extensive sweating. You feel tired and, at times, unable to support yourself. Therefore, when I had to purchase a new mat, I went with this product.
This mat is lighter than other mats. It also provides you with enough space to practice all your poses, while not occupying two spots at a time. The mat is made of 61% rubber natural, 17% synthetic rubber, 15% polyurethane, 5% polyester, and 2% nylon. It is available in seven different colours. Some of these colours are solid, whereas others are gradient. I own two mats in solid colours, blue and purple.
The reversible mat is renowned for being non-sticky and providing extra cushioning. Its natural rubber base is what provides the cushioning and the textured grip for low-sweat practices. The absorbent polyurethane top layer provides for grip, and the natural rubber adds cushioning for hips, knees, and floor poses. This yoga mat stays put in its place and doesn’t require getting fixed after every pose.
Moving on, an individual mat costs between $68-$78 depending on its colour. Mine cost $68 each. Compared to most mats, the Lululemon yoga mat is costlier. But, if you practice yoga regularly, the price shouldn’t affect your decision. This mat’s advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
Some helpful tips:
- At first, the mat will have a slight rubber smell that will fade over time. I suggest you roll it out and air it out before you head to class.
- After your class, either clean the mat with warm, soapy water and hang it to dry, or use scented yoga mat spray. Usually, I use lavender mat spray and then wipe my yoga mat with a cloth, but other times I wash it when I get home.
Final Verdict:
Overall, this mat is comfortable and provides ample support. It is particularly very beneficial for people who have joint pains or have trouble doing floor poses. Also, it’s lightweight makes it easier for you to carry it around. However, it is pricey. But, I still highly recommend it for all yoga lovers.
